Black Bay Energy Capital Acquires Process Technologies & Catalyst Business from Merichem Company

Black Bay’s new sulfur treatment platform will be called Merichem Technologies, a global sulfur treating platform company poised for growth.

Black Bay Energy Capital (“Black Bay”), a private equity firm focused on the energy and chemical sectors, has announced the acquisition of the Merichem Process Technologies and Merichem Catalyst Technologies business segments from Merichem Company. The go-forward business, named Merichem Technologies, represents a new sulfur treating platform for Black Bay and will be led by Cyndie Fredrick (previously SVP & General Manager of the business segment) and the existing management team. Merichem Technologies is a global provider of sulfur treating solutions, including market-leading technologies such as LO-CAT®, FIBER FILM®, THIOLEX®, MERICAT®, and MERICON®. The Company’s capabilities include design, engineering, fabrication, R&D, and implementation of both chemical catalysts and mechanical solutions to treat sulfur and other impurities across many different industries and markets including renewables, gas treating, downstream and midstream as well as many others. Merichem Technologies’ reputation has been built over several decades, with mission critical applications across the globe. The business will be led by the current management team – Cyndie Fredrick (CEO), Jeff Gomach (SVP Technology), William Rouleau (SVP Catalysts), and Rene Campos (CFO).
