Caustic Sweetening of Mercaptans

MERICAT J technology is a proven solution for sweetening heavier mercaptans (C5-C10) contained in kerosene, jet fuel and light crude oils that does not require a traditional carbon bed to meet product specifications.

When used with Merichem Technologies’ proprietary FIBER FILM® Contactor high-efficiency mass-transfer device, these technologies reduce the CAPEX and space requirements associated with conventional solutions.

What is MERICAT J used for?
MERICAT J performs the same sweetening as MERICAT II but without the need for a carbon bed. MERICAT J requires no carbon handling, purchase, cleaning, maintenance or disposal costs and can be used to treat similar streams as MERICAT II. It does require the purchase of a proprietary solvent from Merichem Technologies as part of the process.
